ABOUT MANAKAMANA CABLECAR

Manakamana Cablecar was inaugurated on November 24, 1998. The bottom station is located on the bank of Trishuli River (258 Mtr) at Cheres, Kurintar, and Top Station (1302 Mtr) at Manakamana, is a 2.5 hrs drive from Capital Kathmandu, 2 hrs from Pokhara, and 1 hour from Chitwan. Before the cable car was established, millions of pilgrims have to go to Manakamana by a long strenuous trek. Few number of people still prefer the footpath. The cable car ride covers a distance of 3.02 KM with 34 passengers and 3 cargo cars, each with a seating capacity of 6 people; the system has the overall capacity of handling 600 to 700 passengers per hour and takes 10 to 15 minutes to reach Manakamana.

It is a recent phenomenon in Nepal. The most modern cable car system imported from Austria, facilities of international standards with high priority given to safety, cleanliness, and customer service. The cable car system is 100% safe with a backup system i.e. automatically operated generator that starts within 3 to 6 seconds of power failure, a hydraulic emergency drive, and qualified and trained manpower for emergency rescue with modern rescue devices provided by the manufacturer of the cable car system.
